A Sincere Thank You to all the Students and Families who participated in Summer Camp this week. I know everyone had a great time, and I for one, had a blast. I wish I could do this all day everyday. It's true, if you do something you love, you'll never work a day in your life. Thank you for the opportunity, I feel invigorated and renewed as instructor. I can't wait to kick off back to school time and welcome our new influx of white belts. A big congrats to all those who moved up belt ranks this week, well deserved. Work hard, play hard, train hard.

First Place for Sensei Stergios at CMB Karate!

2 Weeks Ago at the age of 76, Sensei Basil Stergios represented CMB Karate in a local tournament in Bordentown. He received FIRST PLACE in a division of Black Belt Men 45+!!!! He beat out 6 other individuals, some of which were 30 years younger than him!!!! We are very proud of Basil, and thankful he is representing us. Job Well Done! -Master Brooks

Train for FREE at CMB Karate West Windsor NJ for Autism and ADHD Awareness Month

When I started CMB Karate I knew I wanted to cater to those students who have Autism and ADHD because I knew the GREAT benefits the martial arts offers these children.
Today I am proud to say 25% of my student base has ADD/ADHD or falls somewhere on the autism spectrum. CMB Karate is a safe space for those families who may not feel comfortable in other activities because their child learns a little differently then others. It brings me great joy to be able to open our doors to these students for FREE for the rest of the month of April.

CMB Karate 4th Annual Tournament

I am immensely proud of all of our competitors in today's Intra-School Tournament. Some won, some lost, but all learned a great deal about themselves. Every single child that competed today did their techniques better than we have ever seen them do before. There was some stiff competition! I am eager to get to class on Monday and Tuesday and see the children with a new excitement for karate and striving to do their personal best.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention Shen Viola who won 2 First Place Trophies and 2 Second place trophies and walked away with GRAND CHAMPION for today's tournament.
Also Viera WIley was awarded STUDENT OF THE YEAR for 2016!!
Everyone should be very proud of getting up there in front of their peers, and a huge group of parents and performing at such a high level.
I feel very proud today to call you all my students.

Hall of Fame

Tonight, I have the great privilege to honor a man that has had a great impact on me and countless other in the martial arts community. I have nominated Master Emelio Rodriguez (5th dan) to be inducted into the Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Fame.

He will be recognized for 50 YEARS lifetime contributions to the martial arts.

Throughout my time with Master Rodriguez I am humbled to have been taught by him, taught along side him, and on a very rare occasion taught him some things.
Master Rodriguez taught me early on that I could be a great instructor, not just for my age, but a great instructor period.
He taught me it's okay to curse during the adults class. =P
He taught me when it's time to have fun, and when it's time to be serious, something all my students know I practice every day.

Master Rodriguez has been like a brother, father, and grandfather =) to all that have trained with him all these years.

Please join me in congratulating Master Emelio Rodriguez and his dojo Byakko Martial Arts in Edison on this momentous achievement!
